Most people don’t realize how important inclusion is until you or someone you love is the one who is excluded. As a marketer and a mom to a special needs child I am all too keenly aware of the stereotypes, stigmas, and to put it quite plainly absence of disabled people and topics in everyday life, marketing, and advertising. Inclusivity matters not only to those who are disabled or marginalized but it also matters to those that love them. It creates connection, and understanding, and makes us feel seen. Let’s discuss why it’s important, some dos and don’ts, and what we as marketers can do to help drive change for those that feel unseen.
